Lost the Plot Productions

A British Production

Jasmine Yates

Director/Producer/Co-Founder

Lost The Plot Productions is grounded in humanity, in the small and honest moments that connect us all. We create work that feels real, emotionally direct and unfiltered, stories that sit in the in-between and explore what often goes unsaid. At its core, the focus is simple: truth over perfection, feeling over spectacle.

We exist to champion bold, distinct voices from all backgrounds. We are drawn to filmmakers with a clear point of view, people who have something to say and the courage to say it their own way. The filmmaker’s vision is always at the centre, supported, protected and pushed further, never diluted. We believe the most powerful work comes from individuality, not conformity.

Formed out of a shared desire to build something of our own, Lost The Plot is a space rooted in trust, collaboration and creative freedom. It’s not about scale, it’s about intention. About creating an environment where ideas can take shape honestly, and where voices that are often overlooked are given the space to be heard.

Lost The Plot exists to make work that lingers. Films that connect, challenge and stay with people. A place where stories are told without compromise, and where every voice has the opportunity to be seen, heard and felt.

Director/Producer/Co-Founder

I have always struggled to articulate what feels so loud in my head. Thoughts, emotions and questions that never quite come out the way I mean them to. Filmmaking became a way of processing that, a vessel for everything I couldn’t otherwise express. It’s allowed me to take something internal and give it form, to sit with feelings rather than avoid them, and to create something honest out of the noise.

At university, that instinct began to take shape and it was there where I made Castaways, a project that became a turning point for me. It’s not ‘perfect’, but it was the first time I felt like I was getting close to something real, something that reflected what I was trying to say. University is also where I met Jasmine, who quickly became my best friend. What started as a friendship naturally grew into a creative partnership, built on trust, honesty, and a shared drive to make work that pushes each other to dig deeper.

Since graduating, I have found myself in a space of reflection, figuring out what I want to say and how I want to say it. That’s where projects like Dive and Spit come from, a desire to create work that feels more personal, more direct, and more fearless. I’m drawn to stories that explore identity, intimacy and the emotional tension we often keep hidden, always trying to find truth in the uncomfortable.

Building this production company with Jasmine means everything, It’s more than just a platform to make films, it’s a space that we have created together, rooted in our friendship and our belief in the power of storytelling. A place where we can take risks, support each other, and bring other creatives into something that feels collaborative, honest and real. For me, it’s about creating work that connects, that lingers, and that gives people the space to feel something they might not be able to put into words.

I discovered my love for filmmaking in secondary school when I made my first music video. Before then, I had always felt different- like I never quite found my place in the traditional sense. The buzz, the excitement I felt being creative created a deep sense of self, that I truly found what I was meant to do.

I followed that feeling through college, where I directed and produced my first short film. It wasn’t great- but that’s part of the process. Every project became another step in learning how to tell stories that resonate.

At university, I met Reece. Who quickly became my best friend and creative partner, the calm to my storm. It was there that my obsession with storytelling truly deepened. During university, I created my most ambitious film to date, Nostalgia For a Time That Never Existed- a project that reflected my desire to push production to a larger scale and build immersive cinematic worlds.

Since graduating, I’ve worked across high-end television and feature films, gaining firsthand experience in large-scale productions while learning the discipline, etiquette, and collaboration required at the highest level of the industry.

That journey ultimately led to the dream of building a production company with my best friend: a platform dedicated to championing new voices, bold perspectives, and distinctive styles- Along with my belief in the power of stories connect people, stories can make people feel seen, understood, and even healed. While at the same time helping emerging creatives navigate the film industry together.
